Petition to Karim Bardeesy, Member of Parliament for Taiaiako'n—Parkdale—High Park
Whereas
- Toronto's waterfront is a treasured public space enjoyed by millions each year for recreation and relaxation;
- Expanding Billy Bishop airport to allow jets will pollute the environment, sicken residents, increase noise and gridlock, reduce housing densities, and threaten local wildlife populations;
- Ford's airport takeover is an egregious overreach into city affairs, undertaken without the consultation or consent of our local community;
- The federal government has the authority to halt expansion at Billy Bishop airport, as they did in 2015, and uphold the Tripartite Agreement's terms which stipulate that any decision pertaining to Billy Bishop Airport lands requires the City of Toronto's approval.
We, the undersigned, residents of the municipality of Toronto, call upon the Government of Canada to:
Stop Ford's planned expansion of Billy Bishop airport to keep Toronto's public waterfront safe, beautiful, and healthy for everyone.
