A good life is more than just survival–we need joy. Together, let’s invest in the arts, culture and community spaces that are the soul of our city, and that help keep our neighbourhoods vibrant, exciting and fun:
-
Reduce barriers for hosting community and neighbourhood events on City-owned and managed land.
-
Expand microgrants for community-led activities in public spaces through the Local Leadership Grant Program.
-
Cut red tape for establishing and operating independent live performance venues, including theatre arts and music.
-
Expand Community Recreation Centre operating hours, access and programming, with a focus on children, youth, and seniors.
-
Adequately fund museums and community-led heritage spaces and projects.
-
Invest in implementing the Western Beaches Public Realm Plan, including advancing urgent repairs to breakwaters, improving public amenities, and restoring water quality and local ecology
-
Expand Indigenous placemaking and placekeeping along the Western Beaches, High Park and Humber River.
-
Reclaim under-utilized City-owned spaces like Joy Oil for public benefit.
-
Explore establishing non-profit cultural land trust(s) to secure permanently affordable creative and cultural spaces.
-
Protect and expand queer spaces.
-
Implement the City’s 10-year Public Art Strategy, spearheading landmark public artworks in Parkdale-High Park.
-
Expand the StreetARToronto (StART) program to hire local artists to beautify our neighbourhoods, including taking back our City sidewalk garbage bins from the private sector.
